Completely black. Completely opaque. And incredibly difficult to find.

These are made with genuine black sea glass – not very dark green or brown glass that reveals its colour when held to the light. These pieces are solid, opaque black.

That's what makes them so unusual.

I handmade this one-of-a-kind pair in solid 9ct yellow gold, creating each setting specifically around its piece of sea glass. I love the contrast between the deep black glass and warm yellow gold, with my signature little gold bubble details around the edges.

They're approximately 10mm across, so although they're studs, they have real presence on the ear without being heavy or oversized.

Finding genuine opaque black sea glass is incredibly rare, and finding two pieces that work together as a pair is even harder. I also have a matching black sea glass ring available, but once these pieces are gone, I can't simply source more of this glass and remake them.

That's one of the things I love about working with genuine sea glass. I can make the gold setting again. I can't recreate what the ocean has given me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the sea glass really black?

Yes. These pieces are completely opaque black. They don't reveal green, brown or another colour when held to the light, which is one of the reasons this particular sea glass is so rare.

Can you make another pair?

Not unless I find another pair of suitable black sea glass pieces. I don't manufacture or artificially tumble my sea glass, so I work with what I find. With something this unusual, I can't guarantee I'll ever have another matching pair.

Is there a matching ring?

Yes. I also have a one-of-a-kind solid 9ct gold ring made with the same rare opaque black sea glass.

Are these solid gold?

Yes. I handmade the settings in solid 9ct yellow gold. They are not plated or gold filled.

Are they ready to ship?

Yes. This exact pair is already made, hallmarked and ready to go.
