True black sea glass is incredibly rare. This piece is completely opaque – even when you hold it up to the light, you can't see through it.
I originally had one larger piece of this unusual black sea glass. After being naturally tumbled and weathered by the ocean, I hand-shaped part of it for this ring and set it in solid 9ct yellow gold.
I love the contrast between the deep black sea glass and the warmth of the gold. The design is simple from the top, but underneath the sea glass is one of my favourite details – tiny bubbles pierced through the gold setting. Turn the ring over and there they are, hidden underneath.
The ring has a comfortable solid gold D-shaped band, approximately 2.5mm wide and 1.5mm thick. It's a UK size P and can be worn as an everyday gold ring or as a very different alternative engagement ring for someone who wants something genuinely unusual.
What makes this one particularly special is that I can't source more of this black sea glass. I have this ring and one matching pair of earrings made from that original piece, and that's it.

Is black sea glass rare?
Yes. Completely opaque black sea glass is extremely rare. This particular piece remains solid black even when held up to the light.
Is this real sea glass?
Yes. It is genuine sea glass that was naturally tumbled and weathered by the ocean. I then hand-shaped this piece from a larger piece of black sea glass before making the gold setting for it.
Is this ring one of a kind?
Yes. There is only one ring. I also made a pair of earrings from the same original piece of black sea glass, but I don't have any more of this glass to recreate either design.

Yes. It would make a beautiful alternative engagement ring for someone who wants something different from a traditional diamond or gemstone ring.

This pirate glass necklace is very special. It is well made. I don’t worry it might break like I do with some jewellery. The black against the gold is stunning. The necklace has an unusual, clever clasp decorated with a little jewel. It is really beautiful and I love wearing it.
The extra special and clever part for me is an opening link at the front that lets me change the pendant. I have a couple of gold charms I bought on holiday but never put on a bracelet so have never been able to wear.
I have been able to wear them on this chain which has made me very happy.

I love this ring. Made with a lovely chunky brushed silver band it feels high quality. The blue of the sea glass reminds me of blue seas on a sunny day.
The setting is just that satisfyingly bit different and quirky.
